After graduating from the University of Zagreb (Chemical Engineering), Mladen Lovrecek received his PhD from the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. He is professor at the Faculty of Graphic Arts in Zagreb and until 2006 head of the Chair for platemaking processes. His main fields of interest and research are surphace phenomena and applied electrochemistry in reproduction processes, as well as advanced methods of plate imaging.

Dr. Mladen Lovrecek is the principal executive editor of the Journal for Print and Media Technology Research and co-editor (together with Professor Nils Enlund) of the series "Advances of Print and Media Technology".

He serves as the Secretary General of iarigai from September 2003 and was re-appointed to this position in September 2011.
