Erkki Hellén awarded for the
best presentation

In a poll conducted by the Program committee, conference participants elected the presentation given by Erkki Hellén "A new tool for monitoring the formation of build-up on-line in HSWO" as the best one this year.

After receiving his masters and doctoral degrees from the Helsinki University of Technology, Erkki Hellén is now working as a research enginner at KCL Science and Consulting, in Espoo, Finland.
His major field of interest was first on electro-
photographic printing, especially on the physics


of toner transfer, thereafter gradually changed to the area of offset printing.

During the conference dinner, Nils Enlund, chairman of the Program committee, awarded this young and promising scientist for his outstanding contribu-
tion to the conference program.
Honorary members praised for their service to iarigai

Former officials, proclaimed last year as honorary members of the Association, were publicly praised for their service and contribution to the development of iarigai. Professor Kurt Schläpfer and Mr. Boris Fuchs, former Chairmen, as well as Dr. J. Anthony Bristow, former Technical secretary, received charters confirming their status, from Mrs. Helene Juhola, president of iarigai. Unfortunately, Mr. Kenneth N. Hoare and Mr. Karl-Adolf Falter, both serving as General secretaries, could not have been present at the conference and they will be given their charters separately.

Another successful event

The annual research conference of iarigai gathered this year a number of participants from 15 countries, researchers, experts and scientist from the institutes, industry and academic community. In 36 presentations and three invited lectures, authors gave an overview of current research in the fields of information, media and graphic arts. The program attracted not only members of the Association, but non members as well.

The event was hosted by the University of Applied Science Leipzig, with Professor Ulrike Herzau-Gerhardt and her team offering perfect organization and friendly environment to the participants and their partners.

The Program committee awarded the best presentation, according to the evaluation of the participants. Also, iarigai paid tribute to its former officials with special charters of honorary members of the Association.
