The 35th International Research Conference of iarigai, held in Valencia, Spain, from 7 to 10 September 2008, was a another succesfull event. Besides a high level program, friendly environment, created by this year's  host, AIDO, gave an added value to this traditional annual gathering of researchers and scientists from all over the world.

Scientific and technical progress is mostly incremental and the results presented at the conference are definitely advancing the frontiers of knowledge. The scientific studies comprised in the conference program provided an overview of current international research in the broad and diverse field of media and printing technology and present recent scientific work aiming at the advancement of printing and media technology and at a better understanding of the processes and changing.

All presentations at the conference were selected by a scientific board of international experts through a double-blind review process. The program also included three invited presentations: Susana Otero (AIDO), introduced the theme of environmental considerations in the printing industry with a case study on ecodesign management. In a key-note presentation Helmut Kipphan, the first fellow member of iarigai, talked about the status, news and trends in print production technologies. The theme of special printing technologies was introduced in a paper by a young promising researcher, Ingo Reinhold, who won the award for the best student presentation at the Printing Future Days in 2007 in Chemnitz.

The next conference, to be hosted by STFI-Packforsk will take place in Stockholm, Sweden in September 2009. Susana Otero handed over the iarigai flag to Marianne Klaman, the new conference director.
